Brinkley Grove Ethos

We are a school at the core of our community and are committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for our pupils.

We have three key principles that guide all we do at Brinkley Grove: Excellence, Understanding and Opportunity

  • We reach for excellence, enabling our children to achieve the highest possible outcomes
  • We inspire understanding and support children to better understand themselves and others
  • We create opportunities for all children, providing rich educational and cultural experiences

These principles are truly lived and inform all our decisions, from staffing levels to curriculum and extra-curricular activities.

We have developed our curriculum to best prepare our children for life in modern Britain and to understand their role as citizens. The curriculum has been designed to reflect our diversity of pupils and includes, for example, direct work on anti-racism and ensuring that all forms of discrimination is tackled.

We take seriously our role in supporting every child to be the best they can be with a host of additional support systems and staffing such as a learning mentor, Thrive Practitioner and frequent ‘garden group’ sessions to give children a space to better understand themselves.

We have recently adopted the OPAL approach to play and have widely enhanced and improved lunchtimes. We encourage children to not only play together but to do so creatively on their own terms in a safe and risk aware manner.
