Catch Up Plan

The school closures that happened as a result of the pandemic has had a siginificant impact on children’s social, emotional and academic progress. We have assessed the children and have made a series of decisions based on not only the children’s learning gaps but also their social and emotional needs.

You can read the Catch Up Plan here for full details, but as a summary we are investing not only the additional governmental funds, but also from the school reserves in the following:

  • Two new group rooms that will be constructed next to our current Wisdom Workshops
  • Development of The Camp (forest school area) with sessions from a Forest School Leader in order to support children’s emotional and social recovery

Forest School Area

  • Extensive and ongoing tuition, both using the government’s National Tutoring Program and also in school staff
  • Review of maths curriculum and training for staff
  • Additional support staff to help children fill in any gaps in learning, for emotional support and also to continue support for families that begun during the lockdown periods
  • Home learning packs for disadvantaged pupils

We believe strongly in evidence-based practice and are taking part in the National Tutoring Program’s research into the effectiveness of tutoring and will evaluate the impact of the above measures.
