Our Eco-council are busy people!
To help save energy, they ensure that lights and boards are switched off before they leave a room. Ed the Ecobear is awarded once every half term to the most energy efficient room!
Recycling is a big part of our school. We recycle lots including pens, paper, printer cartridges, batteries and clothes. The Eco-council make sure that the fruit caddies go out every break time so that fruit waste can be recycled too in our composters.
As a team, we meet every 2-3 weeks to discuss eco ideas. Sometimes, we do litter surveys or hold competitions. For example, who can bring in the most Christmas cards to be recycled for charity, or who can build a model from junk materials as part of our Waste Week.
We are the proud owners of an Eco-schools Green Flag. We have had this since 2011 – proving every 2 years that we are still working hard as an Eco school. All our Ecowork is therefore recognised by Eco schools. From making bird cakes to water butts, and from litter picking at play times to ‘Energy Ecochecks’, we are doing our best at Brinkley Grove to be Eco friendly and to stay green.Mrs Reynolds
